I am a subscriber in three writing magazines and when I am reading through I am forever seeing advertisements for writing conferences or retreats. It’s frustrating as I really like the look of these but for someone like me they are out of my reach.<\/p>\n
Most of them are down south, there don’t appear to be many in the Yorkshire area, and the other thing is cost, it’s a shame that I am in a well paid job but due to having kids for the last 17 years and other things I have quite a bit of debt. I manage this but it means I don’t really have much disposable income, so things like this are unavailable to me. The ones I seem to look at generally start at \u00a3150 no go upwards quite a bit….. a shame!<\/p>\n
I know they are a business and they need to get the people there and charge to pay the speakers etc. It’s just a shame there isn’t something cheaper. Like the comiccon event that happen near me. I understand that they cost \u00a315 because of the large numbers coming through the door.<\/p>\n
A writing retreat isn’t going to get the same attendance, so its a shame they cost what they do. Maybe one day I will get to something like that.<\/p>\n
