The Founder, mini review Warning Spoilers ahead

WARNING Spoilers ahead….. Ok, you have been warned. As part of my Cineworld Unlimited membership I get to see certain films slightly early than release. On the 9th Feb I went to see Michael Keaton’s new film “The Founder“.

I am not sure what I was expecting when we booked this one but it didn’t disappoint. It is the story of the salesman Ray Kroc who turned the McDonald’s brother’s innovative ideas into one of the biggest restaurant businesses in the world. In the beginning I was rooting for Ray as he struggled to sell his wares and seeing how other people treat him for the type of goods he sold made me want him to succeed.

But as the film wore on and we got to see his persistent side and then his ruthlessness I began to like him less and felt sorry for those he stepped over to get what he wanted. I admit that without him McDonald’s would not have became what it is today, his persistence and drive are what made the company but I was thinking of the victims in his story, his wife who stood by him and was dropped when he found someone better and the brothers themselves, they welcomed him and and were in the end betrayed and although they did have to sell the company in the end for a price that must have been good at the time not getting royalties for something they created was a kick in the crotch! As soon as he said they would have to have a gentlemans handshake deal I wanted to shout at the screen and I bet their descendants will be doing the same.

If the film idea interests you or if you are a Keaton fan, get it watched a very enjoyable film I thought.
