In a move that will save them 30 million euros Extramadura is replacing the governments computers with 40,000 linux based computers. This is the second largest public sector migration to Linux.
Although Linux will never take the lead from Microsoft it is nice to see large scale migrations to Linux like this, it says something about how far the platform has come that governments would make the change to Linux instead of staying with the safe windows solution.
Who knows where the desktop platform is going to go in the future….
