It’s getting to that time of the year again, I have started my prep for NaNoWriMo.
This is a yearly challenge to write 50,000 word in 30 days, this will be the 5th year I have participated but hopefully the first year I complete it. Previously I have always been at Uni or otherwise too busy to keep up the momentum, my personal best is around 18k, this year I am not at Uni anymore so there is just work and family to occupy my time. This should allow me to put in the time to complete the challenge.
There is however several things to get in the way, November sees the launching of the new Call of Duty, Halo and the new expansion for World of Warcraft, however I need to get a good start on NaNo so that I get it done within the time frame.
When looking at this post I looked back at my folders for previous years and they have all been for the Fantasy trilogy I was going to write (Dragon Lords) and the sci-fi book 13th Earth. Last year was supposed to be short stories from the Shattered Worlds series.
Over the last couple of months I have been typing up notes and expanding my universe, getting ready to start writing my sci-fi so the month of October will be spent prepping for the project I am now doing 13th Earth. This is a prequel to the Shattered Worlds series and sets the scene for the Human Empire, it tells the story of how Sol system ended up with 13 planet Earths orbiting our sun.
I know I have said it before and failed miserably but this year must be my year.
