Where do you do your creative thinking?
I have an office and this is where I should be doing my work but I made the mistake of filling my “man cave” with stuff! When I am in here supposed to be working I end up watching TV or browsing or playing games. Occasionally I do some writing. My main PC has 4 screens, this is so I can write while having research open, resources etc. But invariably I end up with a TV program, Blog, CCTV etc….. As an example, as I write this post it is taking me 5 times as long as it should because I am watching Newsroom.
My best creative thinking happens in the bath, which is a good and annoying at the same time. I tried having a pad in there but it doesn’t work very well, don’t really like having the phone in there as the steam may damage it over time.
So…. I need to find some way of sitting and chilling to get some ideas. Tried reading downstairs but with the family talking etc. I can never get the peace and quiet I need. The office has too much going on.
Most men are not lucky enough to have a wife that lets them use a bedroom as an office and yet one of the ideas I have floated when the next kid moves out is a room with floor to ceiling shelves and a nice comfy chair for reading. Nothing else in there but the chair, lamp and books. I can dream, and maybe it will happen in the next few years.
