The Harry Potter series are one of my favourite books series and an undoubtedly phenomenal success written by J K Rowling, who until she shot to fame was a normal person, this is one of the things I like about her. Although the main films finished and they are now working on releasing more Fantastic Beasts films (after the first one) there is nothing more that I am aware of being released in the potter universe.
I was surprised to find out a few days ago that there was a fan film called Voldemort – Origins of the Heir being created and from the looks of the trailer it is quite a professional looking production for a fan film.
I was even more surprised to learn that Warner Brothers have given their consent to it being made. Fan films are notoriously at risk of court injunctions to stop them releasing. Star Trek fan films fall foul of this all of the time. But it seems like Warner Brothers have took the stance that this is not in direct competition with anything they want to release and as it is being released for free and not making any money they are happy for it to be made.
Great news for the fans as it will give a look into Voldemort’s life and how he came to be what he was in the main films. I am not sure how much artistic licence they are taking and how much info comes form the actual world of HP but it should be good to see something more in the universe.
I am looking forward to seeing it.
