I have an impressive collection of “how to” books and every time I am out and I see a new one I will invariably buy it. I flick through them and add it tot he shelf. As part of the drive to actually do something now I am going to work through them. Maybe this self doubt I have about how terrible my writing is will recede when I actually work through some of these books and learn a better way of writing.
So as part of this new focus on writing I have dropped the several “how to” books that I was using and picked one to start with, then hopefully I can work my way through them fast enough to be ready for NaNo this year.
This one is one of the several Write Great series. The one I am starting with is Dialogue. Part of the problem I have when I start to write is not being very good at melding dialogue with description. This book should help me to get a handle on how to do and and how to make sure my characters have depth and come alive on the page.
