When I was a kid it cost 10p to use a BT phone box and there were not mobile phones, if you needed directory enquirers to find a number you didn’t need to take out a mortgage to do so.
Today since the privatization there are now several companies offering this service. the most prevalent on TV is 118 118, I can’t for the life of me in this digital age understand how anyone still uses this service. If you need a number you are just a quick Google query away from getting the numbers you need for nothing, yet these companies are still in business so people must be using them…… It is beyond belief.
The costs are : “Calls to 118 118 cost £1.88 per call plus £2.57 per minute (minimum 60 second charge) from most landlines.”
I think instead of two idiots in the TV advert they should probably have someone dressed up as Dick Turpin and make it more realistic.
Why anyone would use this service now when you can get any number on line for free, it just boggles the mind.
Bunch of con artists just like the payday lenders, they should all be forced to close their doors.
